Description
This mug flan microwave recipe is a creamy, quick dessert you can make with just 5 ingredients. Perfect for beginners and weeknight cravings.
Ingredients
1 large egg
1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup whole milk
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp sugar (for caramel)
1 tsp water
Instructions
1. In a microwave-safe mug, mix sugar and water. Microwave on high 30-60 seconds until golden caramel forms.
2. Swirl to coat bottom of mug, then let cool.
3. In a small bowl, whisk egg. Add both milks and vanilla, stirring gently.
4. Strain the custard mixture into the mug over the caramel.
5. Microwave on 50% power for 2 minutes. Check. Microwave 15-second intervals as needed until just set.
6. Cool to room temperature, then chill for 1–2 hours.
7. Unmold onto a plate and serve.
Notes
Use a ceramic mug or ramekin at least 6 oz in size.
Always cook on medium power to avoid curdling.
For a flavor twist, try adding cinnamon, orange zest, or instant coffee.
