Description

Quick and gooey chocolate mug cake banana recipe made with simple pantry staples. This single-serve dessert is soft, rich, and ready in under 2 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

3 Tbsp all-purpose flour

2 Tbsp packed light brown sugar

1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

3/4 tsp baking powder

Pinch of fine salt

1 small ripe banana, mashed (about 1/3 cup)

2 Tbsp hot water

1 Tbsp vegetable oil or melted butter

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 Tbsp chocolate chips (dark or semi-sweet)

Instructions

1. Whisk flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl.

2. In another bowl, mash banana. Add water, oil, and vanilla. Mix well.

3. Combine dry and wet ingredients just until smooth.

4. Pour batter into a 12 oz microwave-safe mug. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

5. Microwave for 60 seconds. Check doneness with a toothpick. If needed, microwave in 15-second intervals (up to 90 seconds total).

6. Let cool for 1–2 minutes. Top with whipped cream, banana slices, or chocolate syrup.

Notes

Microwave wattages vary; adjust cook time accordingly.

Do not overmix the batter to keep the cake soft.

Use a mug at least 12 oz to avoid overflow.

Best eaten warm right after cooking.
