Step 1: Prepare the Base
Begin by placing the mashed potatoes in a large bowl. If you are using frozen mashed potatoes, allow them to thaw completely before working with them. Stir them gently to ensure they are smooth and easy to shape. The mashed potatoes will serve as the main base for the goblin figure and should have a soft but slightly firm consistency so they can hold their shape when molded.
Transfer about one-third of the mashed potatoes onto a serving platter. Spread and shape this portion into a rounded mound that will act as the base of the goblin’s face. Use the back of a spoon to smooth the surface and form a slightly flattened oval shape.
Step 2: Prepare the Egg Eyes
Take the hard-boiled egg and peel away the shell carefully so the surface of the egg remains smooth. Once peeled, slice the egg in half lengthwise.
Gently remove the yolk halves from the egg whites. Turn the yolks upside down and place them back onto the egg white halves so they create a raised surface that resembles large eyes.
